Aims to honor the legacy of Sayaun Dent’s exceptional dedication and commitment to the sport he loved by supporting student athletes in their pursuit for higher education; who are exceptional at their sport (basketball), and has plans to continue their pursuit of academics and athletics at the next level.
Eligibility Requirements (must meet all criteria)
- Participated in volunteerism and/or community service activities,
- High school senior (Bladen)
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (High School Transcripts)Athlete (basketball)
- Accepted in an accredited 4 – year university with 12 or more credit hours and plans to begin in the fall of the award year
- Minimum of two letters of recommendation – (Head/assistant HS Coach, or Head/assistant AAU Coach)
- Letter of acceptance from college/university
- 500 to 550 word essay – Explain and describe your athletic (basketball) involvements. How will receiving this scholarship assist you academically and athletically? Discuss realistic athletic goals that you wish to accomplish and how you will use this scholarship to assist with reaching your goals.
